America's Favorite Past Time...Really?

Baseball. It's said to be our national pasttime. I enjoy it as much as the next person (especially those tight uniforms). And that A-Rod...have mercy!
But seriously can someone tell me why we can build a better, bigger, grander Yankee Stadium: it broke ground August 16, 2006 and opened for its regular season game on April 16, 2009 and cost a whopping $1.5 billion dollars. We can build Citi Field for the Mets with all the bells and whistles: it broke ground November 13, 2006 and opened for its regular season on April 13, 2009 (March 29, 2009 for a college game) and cost $900 million dollars, yet in eight years we can't put a single building on the rubble that rocked our nation on September 11, 2001?

Where's the priority? What message are we sending out? It's crippling America's already tarnished name and reputation. We're showing the enemy that we are weak. That we cannot band together in times of difficulty.

WTF?!!

I think because rebuilding on the Ground Zero site is still so controversial with some, perhaps is the reason why they're moving infinitesimally slow...

yea our country is ass backward. priorities all screwed up and turn everything into a circus. we're showing everyone how disorganised we are and how vulnerable we are to another attack.
when will we as a country learn to stick together and come together?

Even more disconcerting is the fact that we desperately need more SCHOOLS - especially in the Bronx.

Baseball isnt going to cure AIDS, CANCER, DIABETES or SICKLE CELL ANEMIA. Brilliant minds are waiting to be fed, but starve instead, due to overcrowding.

Priorities anyone?

Play ball...
sometimes you have to say f*ck priorities! LOL
Show me the $! Truth is, there was probably GREAT support for the stadiums and none for rebuilding ground zero.

IakaD ~ I understand the controversy but it's been way too long! They could have come to some agreement, heck a plaque is something!

TT ~I agree. We lack the "together as one" frame of mind.

Cas ~ BOOYAH! Hit the nail on the head.

Cocoa ~ Then that's the issue in a nutshell. Why isn't there great support for rebuilding ground zero??
