President Barack Obama (no more 'President Elect') as he was sworn in a little over 5 hours ago as our nation's 44th president.
Not only will he go down in history as our president, but he will also go down in history for being the first African American president. Today history was made; the day America was changed. If nothing else, one word comes to my mind...hope.
The president invoked a spirit of confidence and of renewal. He pledged both "bold, swift action" and a willingness to make tough choices in the name of economic recovery and eventual victory in the global war on terror.
"Today I say to you that the challenges we face are real. They are serious, and they are many. They will not be met easily or in a short span of time. But know this, America -- they will be met."
Words of encouragement and promise.
Dare to dream big. Dare to dream the impossible. Dare to dream.
As we come to the end of an era, a breath of fresh air has been let in and there will be a great change. A change for good.
